    Hi Folks

Construction starts as in most AFV with the lower hull, here you can see the suspension covers have been fixed in place along with the torsion bars themselves MW FV510 (38).JPG

The torsion bars attach to the hull in moulded mounts down the centre line. By doing this you do get a movable suspension

With the lower hull completed for the time being construction starts on the upper hull, The first item ti be assembled is the rather large engine grill/cover that fits at the side of the drivers hatch. There are four photo-etched grill that need to be fitted, MENG have come up with a very ingenious method with the PE fret in as much as the parts are held in place by the plastic sheet covering them which means no cutting out and no sanding of tabs.

Once fully assembled the part fits in place on the glacis plate along with the maintenance hatch and lifting lugs.

At this stage the upper and lower halves of the hull can be joined and the drive shaft housings fitted into place

Nice start. I'm looking forward to your progress, to see how the Meng offering compares to the old Academy one. Movable suspension is a great improvement.

What colour scheme are you going for?

    Hi Henk

I will be building it as a vehicle used in Helmand Province mainly because that is the only scheme offered in the kit. Apart from that I do like weathering sand coloured vehicles.

    Thank you for your comments.

    Hi Gaz,
The construction of your model reminded me on my build of the Tamiya Pershing that I did for a Korean War "Frozen Chosin" diorama.
It features spring loaded and working suspension similar to the Meng Warrior.
Hope you don't mind me posting a few of my WIP shots on your thread.

I really enjoyed the assembly and weathering process and am confident that you'll experience much the same sense of satisfaction that I did on completion.
So here's looking forward to seeing your progress, the finished model, and how you choose to display it.

    Well, if you don't mind...

I build this about 15 years ago... blimey, how time flies.

Build the Academy kit out of the box, just replaced the rubber band tracks with Accurate Armour resin tracks. The figures are also Accurate Armour.
