John, great work as we are used from you.

Maybe you would like to diversify the ground a bit, some oil stains or a bit of weed would make it look more natural in my opinion. Maybe these are finishing touches which you intend to add anyway.

Very much looking forward to seeing it all come together now.

Hi! Ya I am trying to work up to it as it is always the finishing touches that are the hardest to get right.

I just noticed that the rusty nails are missing on this wall and I think that the wall should be a little more weathered near ground level.
Taking pics are great for concentrating the eye when doing detail.

    Rusty nails !
Someone asked me the other day how I make rusty nails.
This is the sequence going from right to left.
Decide on the pattern and make holes in the wood with a needle.
Twist in tip of graphite pencil.
With a small round brush put a drop of watery burnt sienna into each hole.
Soften the effect using burnt sienna chalk pastel.
This is the area just above the coal chute.
Note:this method works best on raw unsealed wood to obtain that barn siding look.

    Remember this?
This is the floor plan of the WC-rear door-coal storage area.
The figure started off as a 1/16th-120mm combo that never really worked. So rather than throw it out ,I put it in the WC doing what comes naturally.(I don't know what the hell he is smiling about). He can only be seen when looking down through the windows from the outside .He adds a bit of humor to the piece and it saved him from the garbage pail.

    Almost the end of March!
Once again I have been way too optimistic about the completion date of this diorama.Jan-Feb-Mar is a slow time for me energy wise and it is getting worse as I get older.I can't see this finished before the end of the year .Part of the problem is that I keep adding stuff and learning other stuff as I go along .For example the outside landscaping and flora and fauna(horse).
It is fun doing it this way but it sure eats up the time.
