Details of release ( this can be used to represent many different knights from many countries , the inspiration was Battle of Aljubarrota 1385 in Portugal )

Opening the box

As with all of RP products the packaging is good with the parts being located within a bag , the longer pieces being placed at the bottom of the box

All the parts have been sanded so there’s hardly any ...if any prep to do apart from building the piece

Parts consist of Torso , 2 Arms , head/shoulders , visor , pole axe , sword and dagger

Some good and interesting books to have a look at

Torso

As with the Viking bust , the build is similar in the breakdown of the parts

Again the largest of the pieces , good cutouts at the neck and shoulders to locate the parts accurately, wearing a surcoat with a hauberk/ mail shirt underneath , the mail looks good looking at the references

The surcoat is plain with could be easily decorated with the knights coat of arms or insignia

Around the waist a decorated sword belt , tied up nicely , personally I would define the edging more with a sharp knife
Below this a wider belt with small squared sections all the way round ...adding interest

There’s cutouts to fit the sword and dagger as with Viking , on the underside a centrally located hole to fit a mounting post to your chosen base

Onto the remainder of the resin

Head

Cast as previous with a good fit to the torso shoulders with no filling needed , the shoulders are covered on mail which continues up the side of face , again the mail looks good

Around the neck hanging proudly a chain which has nicely shaped tiny shields , there’s a nice buckle leading down to a circular piece ....perhaps a badge of office ......plenty to paint and detail up

The helmet is a good shape with a option to fit a visor , there’s rivets on the lower edge

The face is enclosed by the mail , looking slightly left , the facial features are good and access to the eyes is easy with the option to fit a visor or not

Underneath a good location post fitting easily into the cutout on the neck area

Visor

A pointed version is depicted

Separate as said with the option to fit up or down or leave off showing off the face , there are 2 small holes to locate this on

Some might wish to open out the eye cutouts and drill out the air holes

With visor

Arms

As with the Viking , the right arm is without a hand the left has a fingered armoured gauntlet in place

On both the elbow is protected by a well shaped piece of armour , the edges being scalloped in shaping as is the sleeve edges

The gauntlet has well defined fingers , being separated on the length of each as in originals to allow full movement

Both arms have sharply worked fitment posts ....lovely fit

Pole Arm

This lethal weapon is one of many types used , this has a pointed end with a axe piece , opposite this a 4 sectioned hammer , there’s a small pointed ( sharp ) piece ...again another dangerous area !!

The actual pole shows wood effects ...this will come out even more with washes

In the centre of the pole the left gauntlet , same good details , he’s really holding the weapon , fit is spot on to the wrist

Sword/Dagger

Both sword and dagger are in their scabbards, nothing fancy in style , the sword handle is a good shape , you might want to drill out the strap rings

The dagger has a nicely styled twisted handle

Fit on both is easy to the cutouts on Torso by the belts



Final Thoughts

A subject that’s popular , this has plenty of paint options , RP continue to give the modeller a minimum prep build , this still happens with the more recent releases .
Customer Service is highly regarded by those that have a need , something Hugo should be rightly proud of without doubt
