    Ok.......
Looks good Tony..... good brush control of oils over acrylics (head of the class)
the Tiki looks good, the light satin finish contrasts nicely with the mother of pearl inlay.....and balances well with the skin tone.

The close up of the left side of the face looks quite life like - take this as a sepia effect and the only thing that would tip it off as a miniature is the hair details.....

Next you'll be painting real feathers!

    Cheers

    Hi Jamie,

Thanks once again for your encouragement and comments mate.

Almost finished now. I've added the ear rings. The one on the right ear is a pice of jade with a length of whale bone attached. The carved shape on the left ear is a piece of greenstone. The greenstone in particular is still too light in colour and I'll darken it and add some shading over the next couple of nights.

Last step will be to fix the bust to a plinth and add a name plate.

    Hi guys,

I received some brilliant wooden bust plinths from Ron Tamburrini the other day and couldn't wait to mount this Maori Warrior to it.

I thought I'd post some pics to show the finished piece.

Thanks to everyone who posted on and liked this thread. This bust has been a wonderful piece to paint and represents some of my best painting work to date.

Wow Tony, this is spectacular!, love the skin tones and especially the wee tiki. I am working on a Maori figure , a conversion on a 1/12 full figure and I must say painting a Maori complextion is rather daunting but this work of yours has me striving to get it right, will post very soon, if nothing else but for some CC.
    cheers Les
