    Hello.

Here are my WIP and humble rendition of this masterpiece by Bruno Leibovitz.

    The horse is quite finished

Thanks for your kind comments. I hope I can complete the job within a couple of weeks. The horse was very demanding but the character is not easy.

Yes, I use acrylics for undercoating and oils for the final coats. I hope the trousers will not be that glossy after a few days drying. Keep fingers crossed.

    Hello Paul:

Wow, you are doing very fine work here. That horse, and the way you
have painted the equipage, and the leopard skin portion is so well done.

Also, I really love the shades of what colours you have selected for
the figure that will sit atop his noble steed. Wow, that shade of blue on that
cumberbund around his waist will attract a lot of attention.

Lastly, I really like the avatar you selected as well. No wonder that era is
so popular; the uniforms are so classy and so impressive. A reminder of the
old adage: "The clothes make the Man".

I generally use Citadel skull white spray primer, then do a first approach of final tonalities in acrylic, especially for large portions, like the trousers. For the face, I paint with oils directly on the white primer coat.

I have a very healthy regard and respect :):) for white paint. For me, it is
difficult to use white and achieve the kind of effect I am after. I mention
this only because if a person studies the lone photo you posted, and pays
particular attention to how you rendered the horse's mane and tail, the
reaction, I would think, would be. . . (y)(y)(y) Wow!

There is so much subtle tonal variation, that is so well rendered. The light
and shadow is just right, and doesn't jump out too much. Yes, it is white
paint basically, but so much more than that.

Obviously, you are a real artist. Really very impressive work,

    Dear Rick,

Thanks a lot for your compliments.

I wish I were an artist but I think we here are only modellers trying to improve our technique and... sometimes... getting satisfaction with our small works.

I admit some masters here have an impressive talent.
