Making Confederate Officer gold braid

I just bought the new Art Gerona figure of a confederate colonel ( Sculpted by R. Latorre). Its a real nice sculpt however it is missing officer rank gold braid. Does anyone have any tips on how to make and add this braid to this figure? I know Shenandoah as some die cut braid, but I think it looks a little "clunky" and is a little out of scale. Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks.

DWass, The "Austrian knot" adorned many Confederate frock coats, but not all of them. It would be fine to paint it without. If you would like it on the jacket just paint it on.~Gary

Nimix makes some PE lace that is great if a bit of a B!@#h to work with. It's much better then the Shenandoah stuff. Gary is right though it can be left off.

I started this one today and it is a great figure but I have a few issues with the sculpting but nothing that can't be fixed and that's what will make it fun.
