Here is my substantially finished 1/6 scale bust of Pat Cleburne, done except for his base and his stone cairn stand. Sculpted in sculpey firm and magic sculpt. Painted in acrylics and inks.

For historical background, see my sculpting string posted earlier. Suffice to say that Cleburne is one of the most underrated of confederate generals, although he has started to come into his own over the last few years.

    Hi ,

Everything about this I like , the lacework is sculpted great and the facial features are spot on , love the way the sword has been done especially on the metallics ....cracking work from the 1st thought to the finished figure.

I am sure we all agree that the experience you have shared has been appreciated by all ...one thing ...why is this not a commercial piece ...yes I know the answer thought I would ask again!!!!

    Thanks very much for sharing

Thanks all. Yes I am quite happy with him. When one spends this long on a figure all you see are the flaws. Perhaps in a couple of days I will be able to see him afresh.

Next up I think I may sculpt a 1/6 full figure on a DML armature - perhaps a Napoleonic. I did that once before and it turned out really well.

Thanks for looking and for comments.

    Just awesome Colin.
    Perfect likeness of the man.
With these outdoor pics, the colours really jump out. If he had legs, he looks like he could get up and walk off the bench.

You should be very proud of this piece.

Thanks very much for the "commercial" compliment Nap. One day I may try a commercial piece but I think I am far from that. When I retire I may just try selling one offs if there is enough $ in them to warrant the effort - I have my doubts :)

    Cheers
