As from the 1970,s sitcom "it ain't half hot mum" and the episode 9 series 2, with the flag lowering ceremony..BSM Williams (Windsor Davis) pronounces the order of.." Lower the flag slowly & reverently..Bugler..Play!...the bugler being the 5 ft nothing "Lofty" (Don Estelle) who hasn't a single clue how to play the bugle makes an incredibly funny hash of the playing of last post, when questioned by BSM Williams "were you not in the Boys Brigade Bugle band?"...Lofty replies " Yes Sgt/major..but I was the drummer!" Great funny British humour of the 1970,s

The Sgt/Major bust I purchased from Chris Sorby from down under, the face is great and very close to the actor Windsor Davis, but I decided to change the torso to give him that familiar "chest out" look of the very regimental BSM, there was nothing wrong with the torso before but I felt it was a bit more of a "Jungle creased up"shirt rather than a"Parade" shirt, also needed to add the salute arm as in the point where the flag gets lowered and Lofty is just starting to blow the elephants trunk blowing version of the last post racket on the bugle,
Also decided to add the right arm and swagger stick just for good measure to give him bit more of that Battery Sergeant Major "look"

Lofty is being built basically with parts from my spares box put together, the helmet is from CGS miniatures ,being a modern Royal Marine band helmet, which is close enough for me to the Wolsey helmet worn by Lofty in the show.
All sculpting done with milliput and magic sculpt, still got a long way to go with these two characters yet but I must admit it's making me smile as I work on them
Cheers for now and I'll post some more updates as I progress
    Jim:)

Cracking work Jim, nice to see Lofty added to the scene being a prominent character.
Funnily enough I just watched that same episode last week on Youtube as I was also working on this bust for someone else :)
I think Chris sculpted the bust wearing the jungle green uniform he is sometimes portrayed in rather than the Parade dress hence the creases etc, looking forward to seeing more of yours.
    Cheers

Thanks Steve, yeah that was what I thought about the shirt being sculpted as Jungle greens by Chris, I think the funnest bit of this particular sketch is Don Estelle, practically pissing himself trying not to laugh as he delivers his lines.."I was the drummer" brilliant comedy(y)
    Cheers

    Brilliant concept Jim.
Your adjustment of the BSM Williams bust looks perfect, particularly beside your diminutive 'Lofty'.
I look forward to seeing this develop.

    Cheers,
