    According to Wikipedia, the 16th Engineer Battalion (Lorrain (Lorraine # 1 ) or Pionier-Bataillon Nr . 16 was attached to the XVI Corps. As Lothringisches Pionier -Bataillon Nr . 20 , or the second Lorrain, the Pionier -Bataillon Nr . 16, or 1 Lorrain fell within the General Staff of the Engineering Corps of the sixteenth. The battalion recruitment was done in Moselle, part of Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen, and their garrison was in Metz.
