I finished this one earlier this year. It’s a beautiful casting which I really enjoyed painting. The new releases from Nuts Planet are sorely tempting me to increase my grey army with a Game of Thrones theme.

Very nice job on his face, you have captured that "older" man look which is definately hard to do. If I can suggest, deepen the red in his armour a bit more to seperate it from his shoulder cape. The rest is superb

    Ben,
Thanks for taking the time to make your comments.
You’re quite correct about the reds in the photo. Unfortunately, the photo has somehow averaged the two reds to a similar tone and also does not truly show the very different finish on the two surfaces. The armour was painted to a satin finish, while the cloak is a different red, but totally matt.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Nice paint job Andrew

you've certainly caught the character well, and I like the way you've done the white hair. Very effective.

    Hi Malc,

The hair was started from a darkish shade overall and slowly built up with ever lighter shades through to white (all with Humbrol enamels). It’s basically following a method written by Matt Springer that I came across some while ago. My personal addition was the use of tiny specks of Pearlescent liquid acrylic (by Daler-Rowney) to try to simulate the ends of individual grey hairs.

    Cheers,
    Andrew
