As I loved the Blackadder series, especially BA goes Forth, on the TV I just had to have this one to go with Boldrick which I painted some time ago.

I have done some work on him awhile waiting for paint, glue, etc on my previous bust so this is my progress so far.

Face painted, hair just a base coat, tunic base colour blocked in and Sam Browne belts base coloured.

The leather coat I think I shall paint in Artist's oils.

    More to follow.

    Cheers

P.S. I hope Rob makes more busts from the series.

Keeping me indoors too Geoff, it's a bit grim out at the moment. Plenty of time for me to get on with the Troop 54 Green Howard though.....

Thank you Jim, just gave the brown khaki a touch of green which I believe the officers uniform had.

Thank you Rob, just sorting out the medal ribbons and tunic badges before doing the leather coat in Artist's oils.

Some more done, his hair dry-brushed with Naples Yellow Artist's Oils over the Citadel Reikland Fleshshade to give the blonde effect.

and the first paint on the medal ribbons, they will need some tidying up next, after seeing this pic. Collar RFC badges painted with a mid/dark brown wash then a light dry-brush of Vallejo Bronze. The wing half outlined in Panzer Grey then the wing in White Grey.

    That's it for today.

A bit more done in the last couple of days.

This time using Artist's oils for the leather coat and gauntlets.

It's useful to make use of the white primer to bring out the highlights, using a dry flat brush and wiping it often, after adding the darker brown mix to the shadow areas then finish with a stipple with a dry brush to remove any brush marks.

Next job is to paint the Sam Brown belt and holster with a darker brown.

Brilliant work, Geoff. The tunic colour is spot on, leather coat is excellent, but what you’ve done with the gauntlets is incredible - fantastic rendition of worn leather.

    Hi Geoff

Catching up a bit on things ......nice uniform base , the wings/ medals coming on nicely

The Leathercoat has is looking really good ..interesting your using the white primer to bring highs out

Many Thanks Chris, as regard to the gauntlets, using a white primer really helps as I mentioned earlier. I used a mix of slightly thinned Artist's oils Raw Umber and Burnt Sienna and this was applied lightly over the leather, then with a flat dry clean brush I removed some of the paint on the high points to show the the brown stained primer, the brush needs to be wiped in a dry cloth to remove the paint about every third stroke. I then lightly stippled over the glove to remove any stroke lines.

    Cheers
