    Hi all,
I started this guy today, it's a pirate bust from Castle Miniatures 250mm I think.
I'm trying to do the lighting effect and finding it very challenging. I've roughly attached the arm holding the lantern to get an idea of where the light source is.
I'm also trying to recreate the yellow and orangey light that a candle throws out.
Anyway I have a new respect to those painters that can pull this off well.
I also decided to do one side of the face quite dark as I didn't think a single candle would let off huge amounts of light and its carried so close to the head it would cast long shadows.
Enough of my rambling here are some pics. If you have any tips or input feel free to help.
    Thanks for looking in,
    Andrew.

Love what you've done with the wart Andrew, or is it a mole, or a carbuncle anyway looks fine.;)...You've obviously decided to challenge yourself with this one which is great, good luck with it and I'll be fascinated to follow the progress.
I'm sure you'll end up with a great result...cheers mate.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

Mark the lamp is just one solid piece of resin. I'm thinking about making a new clear lamp so the you can see the candle in it but I'm not sure yet. I even thought about using a small LED to light it up but I wanted the challenge of trying to paint the lighting effect.

You read my mind!... A flickering, 5mm or 10mm LED, which would highlight, even more, the effect you are already achieving. Well done!
