Great painting Luca. I'm fascinated by the process of painting from head to toe over unprimed metal. A very different technique to my own, by the results speak for themselves.

I'm sure that Luca is priming his figures. He doesn't prime the figure totally at once.
I asked it a few years ago.

    But the painting is amazing.

I read some time ago that Acrylics painted onto metal do not need priming as the acrylic does not react with the metal-unlike Oils.
Is Luca an example of this....I know of at least one top UK painter who doesn't use any primer also.
Do other Planeteers agree with this premise?
Great painting by the way Luca, these Le Cimier Napoleonics Generals make colourful subjects.

Marc's right .... you have good memory ...Spread the primer as I go along with painting so I can keep it firmly in one hand while I paint the details of the top with a better end result in my opinion.
Finally he will soon be released on my book about the Knights of Christ where I will explain my technique of the oil painting well hello and thanks Luca

    HI Luca,

What do you use as primer? I assume this is brushed on?
