    Hello all,

It has been a long time since I really sculpted a full figure, but lately I got inspired again and here is the result of last weeks efforts.
It is an European infantryman of the KNIL army in the Dutch East Indies during the beginning of the Atjeh war 1874.

Sculpted in with a mix of AB and Duro putty.
The head is a Hornet, with hands and other pieces from the sparebox.
The rifle is an Enfield from Wolf, slightly modified to an Snider system Enfield.

I hope to paint it soon.

    All the best,

Very good execution Robert Jan of this figure.
    What is the scale.
It's a figure from a period that alot of the very old dutch wanna forget.

    Thanks Marc!
    The scale is 1:35.

It is an very interesting period from a historical point of view and with a lot of inspiration for making miniatures.
But there is not much to be proud of the way the Dutch acted in these regions.

    Hello Robert,

I like this period and your piece! One comment - for the skirt, usually European troops of this period had a back vent, if not a double vent, especially when the uniform seems to be French/German inspired. Would this be backed up by any uniform source that you might have?

    Hello Victor,

    Thanks!
It is pretty hard to get good reference of Knil uniforms of this specific period.
I have thought about a back vent, but couldn't find a good picture of the back of the skirt. It is some mix/match of different reference and interpretation.
