    Hi all,

I have just completed this beast of a figure by Kirin, sculpted by John Rosengrant in the 90's. I must say, this is probably one of my favourite figures of all time! However, I have added and changed a few things.

The MG34 is a replacement supplied by Maurice Corry for no other reason than I just preferred the 34 over the 42. The two part strap for the 34 is made from green stuff and the buckles are just bent brass. I also added the 50 round drum magazines hanging around his neck on a utility strap - sometimes found in the gunners pouch. The American M1 helmet is from my spares box and the internal linings, I made from scratch (check out the name inside the helmet).

This figure is painted in acrylic with a little bit of oil for added sheen on the leather work and the gloved hand is painted in Autumn pattern B just to break up the grey of the parker.

I hope you like it and please feel free to comment or ask questions. Thank you looking.

    Hi Sam,

It is fabulous the paint work and the impression of hazy sunlight won me over.

My question is, is this particular kit still available, in decent packages and without much damage, anywhere? I am an unfortunate owner of the same kit in poor casting (back then I wasn't well informed on the short comings of recast, or how to identify a recast). As it is, mine is a miserable pile of dark grey resin. The most irritating thing is I can't get the body to look believable in every attempt to "join" the two parts of the grenade. Oh and it was awfully expensive.

Every time I see a fellow hobbylist showcase this thunderous model, I feel real mixed :(

    Great work Sam!
    Indeed it's amazing.
The color of the uniform and the color of the pollution are wonderful.
The fresh tone is also cool.
It built into a wonderful masterpiece, didn't it?;)
    I congratulate completion.

You did a wonderful job on this classic kit.

I also prefer the MG-34 over the 42.

I can not quite make out the name on the inside of the G.I. helmet because of my screen resolution; what is it?

Hi all, thanks for taking the time to comment I’m really happy that you like him, painting him felt like it would never end!!!
And just so you know as it may not be clear , the name inside the helmet is pvt Ryan as i thought the Germans would get him in the end .
    Thanks again Sam
