The cloak and shield are unbelievable! The rest of it is pretty damn good too, it must have taken forever.

"Figure of the Week" for me this! Absolutely outstanding in every way. I don't recognise the figure, whose is it and what scale?

The cloak is incredible - i can only imagine the time and patience involved. Could you let us all know what scale?
    Cheers

I for one would love to see them Paul. When you say "sculpted for" Imperial Gallery, do you mean they wound up not releasing it? I ask because I painted a number of their figures back in the day but I don't recall ever seeing this one.

heres a few pics of the process of the cloak, the principal works for any pattern

1 base colour and shading, as normal,

2 the first step on the pattern is to paint the base colour, as i wanted a gold brockade effect ive used the colours i normally use for NMM so the base is citadel paint Tallern sand

i then went over parts of the pattern that were in a lighter area with Zamesi dessert

then moving one gradually highlighted the lighter areas with yellow and then added a touch of white for the very top of the creases

i then worked on the shaded part of the pattern and added burnt umber to the base colour and painted that onto the darker parts of the pattern]

and finally for the darkest recessess i used straight burnt umber

i worked in rows so as to follow he contours of the cloak and this is the final effect

its the same for any pattern, stripe, plaid or whatever each part of the pattern needs to be shaded and highlighted

Paul, that is just amazing work!!

The uniformity of the pattern itself is superb, and the shading and highlighting is brilliantly done.

    Absolutely stunning!!

    Cheer's,
    Jeff.

Cheers Jeff, my opinion is if your going to do a pattern it either has to be simple or quite complex so that if a mistake is made its not very noticable ;)

    many thanks Steve

Well done on completing complex paintwork in such a superb manner. You have spurred me on to do a pattern myself. Just need the right figure now.
