The solo saga continues...

Came across this on a specialist site ref the KS750 and R75.

This page concerns post WW2 modifications (doesn't say from when) to convert KS750s into solo drive. Seems they ended up being used as ice cream carts!

Note that the author states that driving without the sidecar wasn't normally intended (and could damage the gears) and that he has never seen a pre 1945 solo photo (but that doesn't remove the possibility).

So it looks like it remains a rare but possible occurrence.

Ok, I think we’re moving away from the figure, and focusing too much on the bike... there’ll be a forum for that somewhere else. Jeff did a great job on this, let’s not get sidetracked from that. About the only thing I need to know about the bike as presented is where I can find one cheaply.

Fair enough, not that anyone's criticised the figure, which is excellent and, to avoid further contention, could no doubt be mounted on a purely solo bike.

deleted - no more solos..

Recently bought the Italeri ww2 Harley and ordered the 200mm MP rider from Jeff so I thought it would be nice to have a German bike and rider as well so when I seen this figure it gave me a push so off I went in search of a 1/9 scale bike and ended up making a bit of a blunder and bought a Esci BMW R75 SOLO and not the Zundapp KS750 so I now need a German rider that will be suitable, can anyone advise if Jeff's Zundapp Bike riders can be used on the BMW or point me in the direction of other figures that will do the job.
WW2 is not my thing but Jeff's figures are hard to resist and along with a bike they look even more impressive so I thought I would give them a go.

Without jacking Jeff's thread here, there are other figs available. You might also consider making the necessary conversions or adjustments to which ever bike you use. Modifying the legs or boots shouldn't be too much of an issue Terry.

I shan't comment about the bike discussion, but thanks to Jason for raising this and the debate that followed. I ride choppers myself and the comment that no sidecar would damage the gears sounds odd - with less weight they ought to be able to handle a higher speed.

Thanks Steve, the conversion option is a possibility but looking at the posture in relation to the weight of the bikes etc Jeff's figures sit perfectly on them and just look right, I wouldn't be sure that I would have the skills to cut and reposition arms, legs, hands etc to suit a different machine and end up with something that. doesn't look awkward and out of place.
I take your point about Jeff's thread and it wouldn't be right to suggest figures from others, I should have started a new thread titled 1/9 scale German bike riders, sorry Jeff.
