hello gentlemen, i am showing this Yooung bust of the Marine WWII. i have tried my hand at making a dirty tired and just plain combat weary Marine . i think i over did the dirty look but i think all in all once done it will be ok (for me ). the pack had a bad spot on the inside of it, very hard to get out.i messed it up so i added the flag to cover it up. need to finish the straps and then it will be done. what do you all think.

    Hi Rick,
I personally I think you have the weathered look spot on mate. Nice touch with the flag. The face is excellent, very nice tones and very good battle weary look. Post some finished photo's and of the bust rear when complete.
    cheers

You wanted him to look tired and weary, and you have achieved that very well indeed. I too love the flesh tones and the flag on his pack.

He sure looks combat weary, like the addition of the flag, it adds a bit of colour and puts the bust into context.

As far as the painting and weathering is concerned, it's simply flawless.

Not much I can say that hasn't already been said about the quality of the painting, representation of the flesh colors, etc. However, the Marine emblem depicted on the cloth cammo helmet cover has the anchor facing in the wrong direction. The flukes (barbs) of the anchor should be on the lower left of the globe, not the lower right. I hate to be a nit-picker, but having spent thirty (30) years in the Marine Corps, I hate to see such a fine bust figure with an incorrect marking applied to it.

Otherwise, a fine figure. Keep up the excellent work.

The effect that you did on the grime is spot on--not overdone at all. Very good brushwork over all.

i will be fixing this and finishing this model but it is gonna be awhile. on sunday a massive tornado hit the town of joplin. we are just a few miles from that town and most my family live there. nephew lost his home (1st time daddy 6 months ago) and he lost his mom and step dad. Joplin is devastated. anyway i will get this finished someday and then post, but for now its trying to get family in order.

    It's a wonderful work, rick.
The feel of a material of the uniform is wonderful.
The face tone is also very beautiful.
    Great job!
