    Hi fellows,

this little fellow from Nocturna Models came of my workbench a few days ago. It was started as a paintjob "in between", and that's what it became: pure fun!!!
Painting was done in oils over an acrylic basecote and some PI for the metals.

    Hi Goetz,

Thanks for sharing this , its a lovely sculpt IMO , really like what you have done with the helmet and the hair ...lovely highlights on this especially ......what did you do to achieve the helmet effects ?

If anything I would probably put a dark wash over the cheeks and lips ...like the eyes and the work you have done on the underneath them ..looks tired out

Great work Goetz. I really like this bust, it goes to show that a great charactor study doesn't need torso embellishment for it to work.

A simple bust but beautifully done. The face and hair are knockout.

    That's one serious looking fella!
Love the paintjob. What a fantastic use of colours.
Just one small remark; if he is that fatigued looking, I would expect some blue underneath his eyes. I think that would blend the eyes into the face more, making it more of a unity. These intense eyes stand out a lot now.

And what do you guys mean by "little scale"? Surely it is 90mm or larger, right?

Wow, thanks a lot to all of you! I didn't expect such a "wave" of replies...
Nap, the non-metal areas were done by a mix of paynesgrey and medieval yellow as base, this mix received a little red and black for the warmer appearance in those darker areas. The upper part was painted with the base combined with more yellow.
The metal parts were done with a mix of PI silver and sepia & van dyke brown. Lighter shades (with less oils) were stippled in after the base had dried. Some brown washes (burnt umber in combination with black) were put around the corners to imitate a little rust.
A few of the battle "scars" were already in place, the rest was painted (most of them!).

    Hope this helps.

I still have some problems to get the right light for photographing, the cheeks are darker in reality then in the pictures.

You're right with that, a blue or bluegrey shadow below his eyes would have been possible too. I took the red as a contrast to bring out these eyes even more.

The figure has a heigth of approx. 45 mm and the box says 1/12 as scale.

Thanks again to all of you.
    Cheers
