I recently bought a number of metal figures for a very small outlay.
Three of them were by ARES, and this is the first under the brush.
Size is 54mm and is an Italian Crossbowman, c.1370.

Painted in oils and printers inks over enamels.
The crossbow string is very fine electrical wire threads twisted and sealed with CA glue before fixing to the crossbow.
I also added the spanning hooks, which did not form part of the kit.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew

Nice to see you posting and a good looking figure , simple pose nicely painted

Like the work on the helmet

Look forward to seeing the others you picked up appear as well

Why not enter something into FOTM and vote in previous months as well

    Thanks for sharing

    Happy benchtime

Nicely done Andrew, must be hard to get some paint under the helmet.

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for the kind comments.
I'm currently working on one of two DF Grieve kits I got with the ARES.
It's the Naval Landing Party, 1882 which is nearing completion.

    Cheers,

Working on the eyes was a 'pig'.
This was the fifth attempt, and even though one iris is slightly larger than the other, I decided to leave it as it was.
The alternative was seeing how well it might bounce off the wall.

I definitely know that feeling Andrew. Best achieved I think when you paint two really 'good' eyes which don't quite match :ROFLMAO:

    Cheers

ps - I may have mentioned before that when I re-started I chose figures which has one eye or less just to avoid such hiccups such as Nelson, Rooster Cogburn or knights with full face helms ;)

Nice work, Andrew. I like what you've done with the metal finish on the helmet, shading of the tunic, & the detailing of the crossbow is the icing on the cake!
