To think the Great War is a subject I'm particularly interested in this is my first attempt at painting a flat from this period of history.

It's 30mm and the mixing of the unifrom colour was "interesting" but I think It's fairly accurate.

    Great start.
I think Dan Morton can give you some comments on the color of the uniform.

    Thanks Marc.

I have looked at loads of photo's and it would seem no two uniforms were the same shade of grey/green so I think I'm pretty safe with this.

The Bersaglieri uniform color was, I believe, "Grigio Verde" or Grey Green, like most Italian field uniforms. Here are a couple of examples. I suspect Roger knows as much about this as I do. :)

    All the best,
    Dan

Typical infantryman's service or field coat...

This photo shows some color variation...more light grey and less green to my eyeballs.

    All the best,
    Dan

Cheers Dan, it would appear that grigio verde is pretty much like field grey and khaki in that there's a lot of variation in shade. Good for us painters who need excuses :D

Roger - I don't think you need many excuses. :)

    All the best,
    Dan
