I was thinking the same thing to myself, the other day.
I look at my bench, and have done 14 busts in a row,,,and had done only three in the past, years ago, when it was considered almost "maverick" to do so.
I wonder if miniaturists just psychologically don't want to do lower extremeties? I know that sounds silly, but there must be some reasoning to it....

    Progress pics

    Ian, many thanks.
Phil, I'd put it down age mate. But it begs the question , will the guys that are painting the 28mm Warlord/Fantasy/Gobbledegook stuff be painting Busts in 30 years time and if so, what percentage will be Historical and Fantasy .

Here's the progress pics, I managed to complete the fur/seal skin collar, very difficult to replicate seal fur but I hope that I've achieved enough similarity to make it work.

Yes, age could be one reason...it probably is with me.
When you love his art form (notice I didn't write "hobby"), the ideas just keep flowing into your head, right? So, if you do busts, then you can actually represent all those different subjects much more quickly than a full figure on a base , with groundwork, etc. I think that has something to do with it. Maybe.
Whatever the reasoning is, it sure has become a storm.
Your sculpture reflects a young and happy woman...these people are known for their good humor and joke telling...it is as it should be. Of course, no Inuit live in ice houses any more, but it's a tribute to the whole race how they kept up the positive mind set in that enviroment.
Just beautiful how you've got it nailed.

    It's a boy

Made an adjustment to the seal skin collar, it was suggested the fur was too straight and even and following some simplle additions, very pleased with the result.
Struggled a bit with the baby's face , my first but after several tries settled for this one. Thanks Phil, you're right less is more.:)
Many thanks for looking and appreciate any and all comments .

    Cheers Ken
