Good evening everybody, today I have just sorted out my grey army and have made a painting list. I want to paint some Crimean War figures next . I used to be a member of The Crimean War Research Society in the 1990’s and looked to their site for uniform and history details. I seemed to go around in circles and the posts are over six years old. My question is, is the society still running? If it is not can anybody recommend suitable uniform references for the British forces? Thank you in advance.
Cheers,
Paul

himPaul,

A good selection of reference material there from Nap…..but a word of caution as some show troops in the post Crimea double breasted frock which was not used during the campaign.

Dear Nap thank you for the time and effort in sending the links to me. It is much appreciated. I do have some of the titles already however the Crimean Memories is as new one on me, so thank you again and I will try to find a copy. It’s always nice to see remaining examples for details and colouring.
I often include the units regimental badge on the base of the figure once completed. Recently I was successful in obtaining a Mike French Crimean 13th light dragoon on eBay This has proved difficult in finding their regimental badge for the Crimean period. They later changed to the 13th Hussars and that badge is easy to find but incorrect for the period. I bought the Wilkinson book on badges from the N&MP in the hope of some further details but it only mentioned the 13th. Hussars so this is still WIP
Cheers,
Paul

Best I can point to are these two long OOP books from Historical Research Unit. Same format as “Into the Valley of Death” above. You might find them in a library or second hand. I can scan and send info if you can specify.

Good Morning everyone and thank you to all the people who replied to my request. I have more than enough information to be going on with, and if I'm not careful, a very large credit card bill! Special thanks to Nap for all the links and to Colin for the Historical Research Project information.
Cheers,
Paul
