    Hi all,

I'm so busy at the moment that I have nearly paint nothing........
And I'm sorry to all friends and others for not seeing and answering your work.

I have found a bit of time to finish this JMD Bust and to post it.

    As always painted in Oil.

The Gurkha rifle was inclued to the BEF (British Expeditionary Force) in October 1914 during Ypres Battles.

    Excellent painting,

Is it an 8th Gurkha Rifles or a Sikh? To the best of my knowledge the Gurkhas did not wear the turban, the Sikh regiments did.

    Cheers

    the Gurkha did also.
    Officiers wore white ones.
Maybe not during operations, but for parade yes.

    Thx you all.

Love the leather bandolier highlights - very hard to get that degree of contrast and still have a realisitic result! Well done!

Great paint job. I know this matters not to anyone but this bust represents a Sikh, not a Gurkha. The name of the game IS HISTORICAL miniatures.

Oh I'm really sorry to anoy HISTORICAL miniatures Game.........

I have Men at Arms number 41 "The Gurkha Rifles".
G1 : Rifleman 1914 has exactelly the same uniform as my bust, except the hat.
E3 :British Officer Gurkha Rifles 1898 has a white exactelly as my bust.
C3 : Infantery Bengal Native has exactelly the same face with long beard as my bust.

My ignorance let me think that teritorial armies as India present not a unique and identical soldier, but lot of diversities and mixtures of diferences....... I may think wrong......

PLEASE : dont read my answer as an offence. I just try to answer why I did it, with the documentations I have.

Anyway, I post my work on PF, and I hope that we can share our differents opinions and points of view.
Its nice to give and receive advices and opinions.

And thx again to all of you.

In support of Jean-Paul here is what a quick Google Gurkha 1914 search came up with. That said, it is true that JMD has not the most immaculate record for accuracy, ei their Poilu's riffle and hat, so we still have to do a bit of research. Mind you I doudt that they would make such a large mistake on this bust.;)
