Paul at the Model Cellar asked me to preview our upcoming German WWI tank crew figures which are now in the works. These figures are designed to complement the new WWI tank kits such as Takom's British Mk IV tanks (which include German markings) and the Upcoming Meng A7V kit.

Two of the figures were inspired by this photo of an A7V in service. The first being the fellow at extreme right....

This figure is complete and will include two optional heads with helmet or service cap.

The second figure is shown leaning on the door with open great coat. This figure will also have optional heads for helmet or hat. This figures still has a way to go for completion.

The third figure is an officer. He is nearing completion and will include slung binoculars as well as a riding crop and Luger pistol holster.

    Thanks for looking!

These look fantastic, a must buy. If at all possible, it would be great to have the option of having them with either feldmutz or stahlhelm. Anybody fancy doing a set of 18 or so figures for the top of the A7V??

Nice ! Will look out for these figures, and hope you will do something similar in 1/16 scale also for Model Cellar.
Meanwhile, here's some info about the Stahlhelm 1916 model (I suppose the helmets on the figures are still "under construction") : http://www.ir63.org/index.php?page=14

Thanks to everybody for the kind comments and likes!

Zastrow Cuirassier, thanks for the great photos! Most of those are new to me.

I will take a look at the helmet - it is not finalized anyway. But I must admit that, while I have done a few WWII German helmets, the differences between it and the WWI version are hard to put a finger on just looking at photos. The deeper angled rim is obvious. Is the WWI version actually bigger than the WWII? I cannot tell from photos and have yet to see photos showing the two helmets together for comparison.

    Can anybody help with this?

    Cheers!!

Mike - I would say, as a rule of thumb, that the ww1 version is slightly deeper, with a more pronounced flare on the rim, all around and two large lugs on either side for fitting a visor to. On pics, there appears to be a more pronounced seam also, around the edge of the helmet. If you Google German steel helmets you can compare the different styles.

    Hope this is helpful!
