Had this 75mm figure half painted and sitting on the shelf for about three years, and finally took it down, stripped the paint and restarted it a few ago. I'm much happier with the result as it stands today than I was with the original effort. Just need to base him up and do some ground work.

    Hi Glen

Excellent work, Glen - especially the flesh tones & the shading & muddy effects on the greatcoat.

    Lovely work Glen.
Kev, it was released by Miniaturas Fortes and I picked one up myself at their stand at Euro few years back, but unfortunately they stopped trading in 2018.

It's a very nice figure, with a logical parts breakdown to assist painting.

    Lovely work Glenn.
Always admired this fellow & would have liked to have had a go at him myself. David Lane also did a beautiful version, both show variety of uniform possibilities from Imperial Russian era.
Look forward to seeing him finished up.

    Hi Glenn,

Nice paint job. Can't wait to see the finished product on the base. I always liked this figure (based on the Osprey book).

We have a 1/9 bust version sculpted by Steve Leadley, box art by Maurizio Fenucci:

Maybe you could do the bust to go along with the figure?!? =))

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your kind encouragement. I actually bought this figure and the Prussian Officer from Miniature Fortes at the same time a few years ago (at Chicago MMSI if memory serves) and I had equally unsatisfying results the first time I tried painting them. The Prussian Officer was converted into a Newfoundland Frontiersman earlier last year, so both figures have enjoyed a new lease on life.

It is a very beautiful piece, it is a pity that it is no longer available.
The author of the modeling is Diego Fortes for his now-defunct brand.
    Nice paint job.
    Santi.
