Hi all,

I started this last year and finally finished it. It’s my largest diorama to date and I had a box and frame made for this

Figures were converted , sculpted from many sources. Castings were made of freely sculpted figs to add to the scene.

Hope y all like it.

Rgds Victor

Hi Victor

WOW!! You've excelled yourself with this , no idea how you achieve the results but they are great to look at and so close to the original painting

Thanks for sharing all this year , look forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Hi all

Thanks for yr gracious and kind comments. As usual I got lucky with this piece and mng to complete it despite its size.

I’ve always wanted to do this scene for many years now. I’ve tried to capture most of the main figures as portraits. The figures range in size from 1/20 Tamiya up front, 1/22.5 preiser, 1/24 Fujimi Hasegawa preiser, 1/30 Historex, 1/32 airfix preiser, 1/35 numerous makes, 1/48 Fujimi, 1/72 Hasegawa, 1/76 preiser, 1/96 preiser,1/120 preiser and the last were brass pins to simulate heads. Yes like many of you, I had amassed a lot of grey army and this piece used up some of them.

I attach some closeups with my trusty point and click hp for yr further enjoyment. Rgds Victor

Agree, the close ups are even more impressive. This is stunning work, such a pleasure to see.

Is there any lighting in the box, or openings to let the light in from above?

Hi Kev and Nigel,

Thanks for yr kind comments. The box is lit by a single strip of led light at the top.
The close ups with my simple hp changes the perceived light and colour, making it darker. The earlier pic with a bright overall lightning is what is seen when the diorama lights are switched on.

Btw Merry Xmas to you all.

Hello Dolf and Matt,

Thx for yr kind comments. I read that Repin painted this to represent a wide segment of the prevailing society, a statement on Realist painting.
