    G'day all,

Here's the latest figure I've completed. A 1/16 US 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One) officer in the Hurtgen Forest, October 1944. As with all Alpine figures, the character, sculpting, casting and overall quality are brilliant - a pleasure to paint.

You can read about the groundwork here on my previous post:

This was a bit of an experiment, trying to capture the effect of rain, wet and misery. Hope you like it!

    Cheers

That rain effect is awesome Nick - from the splashes in the puddles to the wetness on his jacket, it all looks really authentic! I'd say your experiment was a complete success!

Nick, Really nice job on the figure and groundwork! What a cool presentation. Man, your staging of the figure really is brilliant. The Alpine figure is a gem indeed and you really did a superb effort on the greens and browns. Nice effect of weathering and rain drops as well. The more I look at this piece, something new grabs my attention! Well Done !!! Thanks for sharing!

Oh yes, your expeiment certainly paid off Nick!
Superb attention to detail, truely giving the miserable atmosphere you were going for.
Very cool and congrats on the award!

Just a super presentation of realistic conditions put in miniature. The bunker is perfect as they are scattered throughout the hills and are hard to find.
Here are a couple I found when I was there:

I've been a lot of times in this region (family), and your vignette really breathes these woods!

Very inspiring, makes me want to do mine Hürtgenwald; although a bit smaller (1:35)

Thanks for the comments everyone (y), much appreciated.
Thanks Bob for the pics too - one day I hope to visit both the Ardennes and Hurtgenwald, and see where it all took place!
