How can we help combat poverty?

    G'day,

Some of us may have heard of the modeller Scott Girvan, otherwise known as "scaleModelAddict". Over the past two months, Scott has been producing his own YouTube modelling show (http://www.youtube.com/user/scaleModelAddict), a very entertaining one at that. Behind the plastic, rock-n-roll and insane humour, Scott's motivation for running the show is to donate all profits to the construction of a water well in Africa.

I'm sure you all agree that this is one very good cause!

I am currently offering a service on the Kitmaker Net. where modellers can order engraved ‘name plates’, which can be attached to dioramas or model display bases. Starting from now and continuing through the month of March and April, I want to donate 100% of my profits to Scott's African well fund.

I’m not trying to impress, nor am I doing this to be seen as a charitable or selfless person. I simply wish to assist Scott in helping these poverty-stricken African people who go thirsty or are forced to drink contaminated water. It is Scott who is making the biggest sacrifice, spending 10+ hours recording/editing each show, and of the proceeds he is not keeping a dime.

Professionally engraved name plates can be ordered here: http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=129314&page=1

If you do not want to order an engraving, and would rather assist Scott directly, merchandise can be purchased from his website: http://www.scalemodeladdict.com/store.html

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you can support the campaign.

    Best Regards,
    Chas

    G'day Chas,
the title was interesting; you in marketing?

1st; I would like some name plates; question, are they all the way from America, or do some come from the the same continent you and I stand on? (trying to keep Aussie Dollars Aussie where possible)

2nd; Good on you for supporting such a cause.

3rd; given the title questions, well..........large, systemic situation, with a long persistent history, will require an equally long involved effort to reverse....

Summary; (and rebuttal to pt 3) because we cant save the world, shouldn't stop us from helping a small part of it.

    Cheers

    G'day Jamie,

I'm not in marketing, just trying to draw attention to this issue with an interesting title.

To answer your question, yes, the plates are manufactured here in Western Australia. I agree, we need to support our own businesses at this time.

Thanks for your interest. Although this is a relatively small project, one well can provide clean water to thousands of people per year, and that makes a difference to lives.
