I was asked by SWMBO to paint this Henry VIII as a gift for one of our (her) friends who is obsessed with Tudor history. I am am blowing through it as I want to get it done so I can get back to fun stuff. Decent job but a little more arty than I like, indicating detail rather than actually painting it. Almost done after about 8 hours work. Just need to touch up some ornamentation, paint his legs and carpet base, and sculpt a dagger to replace the one the cats ate/lost.

I can hardly believe this is just an 8h work! I would agree with your "arty" style point if we were talking about a 90mm fig, but in this case the trem "decent" falls short!! (But I'm afraid Your wife's friend would have been a lot happier If you had sculpted a Jonathan Rhys Meyers bust instead) LOL

Looks good Colin, and it's always a good idea to keep the other half sweet, this "good deed" could repay itself a hundred times over ;)

Nice work on the gold (y)

Thanks gents. The gold is various shades of Vallejo wargame elf flesh, highlighted with Naples yellow and washed with highly diluted liquitex gold ink.

You nailed it. I think she thinks the TV series is accurate but she is a dear and it's not a lot to make a nice lady very happy.

Finally got this figure done for my friend Di. Lost his dagger so added a mamluke one from Historex. Not my best work but not bad I guess for a period in which I have zero interest.

You may think not bad Colin but I think it's another success.
A complex piece that you have really nailed.
Yet again all that gold lace and patterns are absolutely superb.
    Well finished Sir.
