"Hannibal ad portas". El Viejo Dragon 60mm painted in acrylics. A Roman triarius says farewell to his wife in 216 B.C. Unfortunately, the plaque for the base has still not arrived.

Thank you for the comments Mobo, Edorta, Ken, and Nap! I find myself constantly fascinated by the ancient Romans. With all of the new research and reinterpretations, there is so much more to learn. This is a really nice little kit that was a joy to paint. My only subsequent thoughts are that the colors are a bit too vibrant on the triarius' wife. I really should have used more of an ocher palette, but that is noted for the next project.

She is superbly painted. Those yellows are fantastic, not an easy colour to get right either. Well done all round.

Thank you Blind Pew and Andrew! Yes, yellow is quite difficult to work with and not my favorite color to paint.

    Excellent finish, Snake!

When you say you should have used more of an ochre palette for the lady, do you mean for example a more muted yellow with a bit of a brown tint to it?

    Prost!

Thanks, man! Yes, more muted for the yellow and even the blue should be toned down a bit. The funny thing is that in person the colors do not seem as vibrant. Chalk that up to digital photography and my lack of skill with a camera.
