    Hi All,

    What a relief to finally get something done again. Here's a Verlinden
    1/35 Vietnam figure represented during the battle for 'Hamburger Hill'.
    Excellent sculpt and quite a joy to paint.

    Painted with Vallejo and Andrea acrylics, with a tiny bit of oils on the M16.
    I added some battle-damaged trees, inspired by some pictures of the
    actual battlefield, some forest floor and leaves. To make the trees a bit
    more interesting I painted them covered in lichen. The 101st airborne
    patch is a Verlinden decal.

    A fun piece to paint, but for all its simplicity it took me much longer than
    expected. Anyway, hope you like the result.

    Cheers,
    Adrian

    Some pictures after the battle. Greenpeace wouldn't like them...

    Hi Adrian, I like the vignette very much, very realistic groundwork.
    The greens and the webbing are very well painted, but the helmet are amazing with those letter that GI wrote on the camo cover.
    Well done my friend!

    Adrian an excellent finish , great painting and groundwork. The plain wooden base really works for me , very neat, can I ask is it on a pedestal.

    Indeed it's a wonderful work, Adrian.:eek:
    Completion of a figure is very beautiful.

    Hamburger Hill in 1:35th: Ah Mr. Smith . . .

    Ah Mr. Smith:

    Obviously, you do not need to "go to Washington" in order to do eye catching
    work. This little setting is very well thought out, well executed and painted
    and I am impressed the way the terrain fits so well with the pose of the
    figure.

    Very well done, and it seems my fellow Planeteers, agree.

    Thanks for taking time to look and leave a message guys. Sorry for responding a bit late....

    @Pedro: Thanks very much. I'm glad you like it. The writing on the helmet was a lot of fun to do actually, once I found the right brush!

    @Steve: Thanks a lot.

    @Ben: Thanks. The sculpt depicts the scare quite well. I'm glad my painting enhanced the effect.

    @Carl: Thanks again. I look forward to your Nam figure.

    @Ken: Thanks for your remark. No, the only base is the light wooden one. No further pedestal. What is just visible in the pictures, and what may have triggered your question, is a bare base I used to elevate the vignette a bit while making the pictures.

    @Mitsutaka: Thanks a lot for your kind remarks Mitsutaka! I'm glad you like the setup.

    @Christos: Thanks for your remark my friend.

    @Rick: Thanks for stopping by Jayhawker! I'm pleased you like it.

    @David: Thanks a lot!

    @Mark: Thanks, glad you like it!

    Just one remark for everyone commenting positively on the groundwork: please let most of the credit for this go to Verlinden's (anonimous) sculptor! The figure and base are actually one casting. Only the arm and head need to be attached. The only thing I did was to add the tree stumps and some forest floor scattering and leaves. It really is a nice sculpt. I can highly recommend getting it, if you find one.

    Cheers,
    Adrian

    @Bill: Thanks man!

    @Gordy: Thanks, and you're welcome.

    @Alexandros: Thanks very much, but please note that much of the credit for the groundwork goes to Verlinden (well, his sculptor that is)!

    @Marc: Thanks for your remark!

    Thanks for dropping a comment guys, very encouraging.

    Cheers,
    Adrian
