    Hi everyone

This is my next being worked on in between finishing the flesh on my other US Marine https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/us-marine.624947/

Sculpted by Alan Ball originally for Regimental S4 ( owned by Nick Majerus )

Bit of background on him :

Born in 1873 later after USMC training he was sent to China in the Boxer Rebellion where he won the first of two Medals of Honor

In 1911 while serving on the USS Springfield he put out fires from burning fuel which if left would have got to the ammunition magazines .....for this bravery he received several commendations

In 1915 he served in Haiti , being captured ....he tunnelled his way out !

Later in 1915 serving at Fort Liberte in Haiti he and 2 other marines led attacks against 400 of the enemy .....for this all 3 received the Medal of Honor......his SECOND !

Serving in France in many battles including Belleau Wood , in which he received the Distinguished Service Cross , also being awarded but the French also the Medal Militaire , Cross de Guerre with Palms , the French Victory medal with 4 clasps

After a long service of 30 years including in the reserve , he went on to do 17 years as a bank guard ...passing away in 1937

Incredible man ....” Devil Dog “

The sculpt is based on this image

Will probably paint his eyes ( a gray from what I have read ) before finishing off the other marine’s flesh

    Stay tuned

Another good looking bust, strong character in his face.
Are white silk ribbons an option for the MoH? (as per the reference picture of his actual awards)

Another fine bust mate, looking very nice. I assume the pics of the Medal of honour are museum pieces and have faded.
    Look forward to seeing more.

    Hi Rob and Bob

Thank you , it's a great face on him and should paint well

As for the ribbons , Definately no white ribbon options the picture shows the faded originals as Bob said
Cheers mate , it's quite a plain piece really but obviously the 2 MoH take the lead on him

Thank you Mel , I presume your referring to the bust and not me .....LOL

Thanks to everyone for looking in

Interesting looking at refs there seems to be a variety in the light blue .....see below

Once the ribbons done it's to the other Marines flesh I go

busts are way out of my confort zone but I have to say that I'm a bit jealous of the amount of details they have ... ;)

Very nice Kev, lots of character in this fella and a nice looking uniform to boot and an interesting individual by the sounds of it. Looking forward to more, though you may need to stock up on blue paint!
