Here is a little WIP of Groundwork for a 75 mm project using styro foam IE Kingspan
and some bits and bobs from the spares box , plasticard and Mig wet mud .

The foam was cut to about 8mm thick glued to the base and the paving was formed using a pencil with the lead rounded off so as not to dig in to deep ,primed with Halfords matt over sprayed with Tamya x55 deck tan then sprayed with GW gloss varnish and washes in oils of Burnt umber , sap green , paynes grey and highlighted with old Holland warm grey . Chain is a product raid from her indoors costume jewellery box

Look forward to seeing what you put on it.

    Really nice piece Ron...well done.
Someone smarter than all of us will now take this product and bag it as a scenic/groundwork product and charge an 854% profit margin on a 50g bag.
Sounds like an opportunity for Grange Hardwood Bases to expand to Grange Hardwood Bases and Scenic supplies.

    Fantastic work Ron!
A good spot for Metal Models 75mm Guard Marine perhaps?

I'm guessing the material is along the lines of the rigid foam we use as insulation over here. Sometimes the trade names of certain materials don't translate overseas.

Either way, you've come across an excellent medium for sculpting groundwork... Great work indeed!

Yes Colin insulation foam , medium to high density ; sands , cuts , takes impressions with just about anything . the stuff with the silver foil on both sides is what we use here for wall, and concrete floor insulation , when you peel this back it leaves little imperfections which look great on paving setts and flagstones ,walling etc .

Yea the Altier market 75 mm Marine would go well ,but I have something different lined up ,will show soon . :)
