    Regimental Commander – General Claude-Étienne Michel(1772-1815)



    1st Regiment of Grenadiers of the Imperial Old Guard was of a special account forthe French Emperor. The regiment was formed of the most honored and loyal soldiers who fought during the time of the ascent of General Bonaparte to power. The regiment comprised the choicest and tallest "Grumpy Old Men" who had the right to address to the Emperor in free manner and not afraid to express their dissatisfaction.
