Fantastic - I am really becoming a fan of your painting style - very clear colours and not too exaggerated contrast with light and shade. Can I ask what paint you use and also have you shaded the black horse or are the shadows just natural from the camera?
I love this metal models figure and must get one one day.
    Cheers

    Hi Mat,
Windsor and Newton oils over Humbrol for a flat finish and acrylic for a sheen ie. horse, skin and leather. I did paint the shadows but the dark brown base was so dark I needn't have bothered!
I've never been a 'dark' figure fan and have stuck to my own style for years.........although at the moment it isn't particularly 'in'!!:);)

I try to paint 'to scale'.ie. what would things look like when viewed from say 30m as a 54mm would be if a person stood out there.

Great job...little thing that bothers me, on the horse right inside leg, seems to have a ship on the painting...1st picture

It’s all brilliant but I particularly like the sheen on the horse.

The odd mark on the leg is call a 'chesnut' and represents a small callous found on all horses;)

    Beautifull work all around.
I also don't like overpainted figures. I't's a trend that's just going by.

Classy and accurate, as always. The horse's painting could be slightly more "organic" by applying thicker coats visibly texured to simulate the hair's direction.

Well I think it's great - and just how I'd love to get my figures looking if I could choose, especially these Napoleonic subjects.

No, your method of painting is not fashionable.

But class never dies mate. Keep doing what you are. Eventually, you'll be trendy again if you hang on....

Very clean, crisp, and beautifully done mate.

Very Crisp clean painting which really suits Metal Models stuff , rule of thumb used to be the smaller the scale the more contrast :)
but you have really nailed your own style , I can spot your stuff in a crowd nae probs :D
I have this one three quarters finished and its been like that for over a year as I am not happy with it, now going to strip it back and try your method of painting for MM

Great stuff David Keep em coming .

I don't actually thin the oils but do use artist white spirit to clean and keep the brush damp.;)
