Great stuff from Scale Collectables...

Just received a couple of 3D printed heads from Mark Brooks, owner of Scale Collectables over in the UK. He put in the extra work to size them to fit the 1/10 bust that I plan to use it on and they fit great; the detail is amazing as you can see. Mark is great to deal with, the price is right and the service is super efficient. Check out the website (https://www.scale-collectables.com/) or the Scale Collectables FB page to see other incredibly done pieces - highly recommended!

And when you think they cost on average £25.00 per bust, they are amazing value for money and dont forget when you have purchased 4 you can claim any bust from the full range for free! - Only 2 more to go (y)

    Hi Scotty,

I ordered two copies of the same "Mav" head in case I messed up the first one doing the conversion I have planned. And yes, they do look good - Sid Naique's sculpts of some of Hollywood's famous faces are uncannily realistic - check out Mark's website and you'll be amazed.

Not sure Mav wore a necktie when he had the "need for speed."

Quite right; however, this Mav is being backdated to a USAAF bomber pilot c. 1944 - shirt and tie were de rigeur for pilots even when on ops.

A shot of the progress so far:

    Hi Brian

Nice update , the headwear looking good , nice rank bar on it

Will you add a moustache perhaps to get away from the " Mav "

    Following with interest

Glad you like him so far.

Good suggestion on the moustache - I'll think on it, although I have no problem with him looking like Mav. I'm just happy the head actually fits well - for not knowing the exact figure I was putting it on, Mark did an awesome job sizing him to the correct proportions.

Next up is the fiddly work of the headphone set - I'll try to post some shots - if it works! :)

    Cheers,

    Hi all,

Thought I'd post a couple shots of the progress on this project. Nap, if this thread should be moved to somewhere more appropriate, please feel free - I'll continue to add more WIP photos as I move along.

I used putty, sprue, sheet styrene, steel wire, aluminum sheet and lead wire to scratchbuild an approximation of a bomber pilot's HS23 headset:

In preparation for paint, and to better see how the whole figure looks overall, I sprayed a primer coat on it:

Thanks for looking in - on to the painting next.

Thanks Adrian, very kind of you. And I'm with you; I was never thrilled with the original head either. Hopefully, the final product will be satisfactory - any advice as I progress is appreciated.

    Cheers,
