    Hi Folks,

This is my version of "Girl with a Pearl Earring" (by Alexandros Models)
    My apologies to Vermeer.
I initially started trying to paint the face in acrylics, but eventually returned to my comfort zone of oils.
Painting is generally oils over enamels or acrylics , but I also used the acrylics for highlights.
It was a fun bust to paint.
    Hope you like it.

Nice work Andrew, an unusual subject (in miniature that is) well painted.

    Hi Kevin,

    I'm pleased you liked her.

The flesh is an oil mix of some Winsor & Newton and Rowney Artists' Oils.
I don't have set quantities, but mix until I get the right (IMO) colour:-

Basically, Flake White (WN) to which I add a tiny speck of Cobalt Blue (R) to just take the edge off the starkness of the white.
To this I add Cadmium Red (WN) until it looks right (to me).
I then add Yellow Ochre Pale (WN) to bring the the mix to a more skin-like colour (normally I'd use basic Yellow Ochre for a male complexion).
For this one I then added Mars Yellow (R) to get my mid-tone. (For males I generally use Mars Orange or Mars Brown).
    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Andrew
