Hello all and happy new year!

this is a small bust of a German WWI soldier I sculpted and painted (about 1/8th scale).

I imagined him to be shell-shocked, so I tried to give him an intense look.

    Comments/feedback welcome, as usual.

    All the best,
    Elia :)

I think you need to push the shading & highlights more, especially on the flesh tones. Give him more of a pale, gaunt appearance but also darkness around the bottoms of the eyes to give him a look of fatigue and stress.

Also use grey (with a slight hint of blue) to represent beard growth (aka "5 o'clock shadow"). Be careful not to overdo it though, and blend it sublty into the surrounding flesh colours for proper effect.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions, Steve.

I used Paine's grey for the facial hair - it's a little more visible on the second photo. Perhaps I should use some purple for the eye bags.

    All the best,
    Elia
