    Mark,
Coming along nicely now, I'll be interested to see what happens when you get to painting his medals - they should really add a splash of colour to the khaki uniform.
    Cheers,
    Chris

Carl .... it was all self inflicted, but thanks :)

Ken .... thanks and I tried using the sculpted holes on the eyes and did not like it! filled them with a couple of dots of MS and just did my usual :)

jon ... thanks :) WGW is a scream and gets bigger every year. you will need to book a room about 6 months in advance mind :) and happy hallowbirthday just gone :)

Mitsutaka .... Thank you very much! :)

Chris ... i'm pleased with how this is progressing ( and the hangover has matured :) )

    Marcel ... many thanks :)

Well Goth weekend is over ( for me anyways ) and after seeing friends off and cleaning my slightly neglected cottage i got stuck into the hat..

the piping and hat band are AV red with a wash of GW chaos black to pop the detail and over painted with GW bloodred
the braid and badge are based in GW chaos black then washed with AV burnt umber detailed with AV green ochre and highlights with GW golden yellow

still a couple of hours work to do on the hat....

    picture.......

Are you going to do the decoratrions, as non metalics?

    medaling about

i've been working on the medals, lots to do yet but i like the non-metalic metal look :)

i picked out the decorations with AV Black first

    then...

    gold...

    base .... AV green ochre
mid ...... base + GW golden yellow
high ..... Mid + AV Off White

    red .. GW Blood Red

    White ... AV Off White

next i'm going to use some fine washes to define edges and do some fine picking out of detail, those little Lenin heads are going to be the challenge :(

    :)

Is the sculptor the same guy that illustrates for Osprey?

    Hi Marc!

Till present the bust is painted very nicely.

However, with the historical exactness I have a problem:

Marshal Shukow carries the old Soviet uniform before the introduction (again) of epaulets in 1943.

However, some of the orders which he carries were lent him later - in 1944 and 1945.

Mark only just caught up with this one since your first post and what a transformation from those early stages. Again another great paintjob by yourself.

Martin .... the sculptor has him as General of the Army 1940 .... ? have i painted them wrong or are they sculpted wrong?

    Steve ..... thanks man :)

    Mitsutaka ... many thanks :)

    Ken ... thank you!

Tony ... Many thanks, it's a really nice bust and a pleasure to paint :)

Chris ... again thank you! :)

i've worked the medals somewhat with an oil wash! ( WN burnt umber) it's done the job i think and i just have the steel finish on the 20th aniversary of the red army to do. Next I will finish the tunic and hat.
