    Hi guys,

The movie Gladiator opens with a scene of General Maximus, on the eve of his final battle against the barbarian tribes of Germania, 180 AD.

Maximus, momentarily distracted from his thoughts of home by a small bird perched innocently on the wintry battlefield, forgets he's a Roman general, he's remembers Maximus; husband, father, farmer, Spaniard, Roman.

54mm metal figure, painted in Vallejo acrylics.

Thanks to Raul Garcia Latorre for sculpting such a marvelous figure for me to enjoy.:) :) :)

I hope you guys enjoy it too.:D

    Cheers

    Hi Tony,

excellent painting, I especially like the metals, besides the reds! What's your mix, did you use golden brown in it? Also the base depicts very well the foresty battlefield, great overall effort!
    Thanks

    Hi Denes, Vergilius and Ian,

    Thanks for your comments guys.

Denes - the colour mix on the breastplate was made by mixing Beige, with a drop of English Uniform and a drop of Brass.

Ian - Yes, the base is one of those beautful jarrah bases I bought from you at WASMEx last year.

FYI - the snow was made from crushed castor sugar. I crushed it up using my wife's mortar and pessel in the kitchen.

Thanks Marcel, I must admit, 54mm does have some advantages.

You consume much less paint and your arm doesn't get sore holding the figure while painting.

It took me just 10 days to get Maximus to this stage. (is that too fast??)

It would normally take me at least a month to do a 120mm figure, and nearly 3 months to do a 1/6th scale full size figure.

    Cheers
