Hey guys, finally got around to do some work on General Kato, extreme shadows and highlights still needed.

    1 - Do (body armor), Ko-sode(Shoulder armor), Haidati,Ssuneate = lacquered gold.
A- Base = Testors gold with a little Allizzarin brown .
    B- Shadows = Allizzarin brown.
C- Highlights = base + more Testoes gold.
D- High highlights = pure Testors gold.
c- Exteme highlights = a touch of silver here and there as needed.

The shadows were applied by using several controlled washes of Allizzarin brown, base must be completely dry.

Highlights were applied using the glazing technique, which I described previosly in my other projects.

2 - Tanto (Dagger) Black laquer with gold fittings.
A- base = Burnt umber + Prussian Blue + Magenta.
    B- Shadows = Mars black.
    C- highlight = Mars yellow.
Added a few drops of Linseed oil to the mix to obtain a laquer finish.

    Yugake ( gloves) black
Same black mixture as above with a bit more magenta added and burt Umber added to the base black.

    3- Tabi (socks) = green
A- Cadmium yellow + Prussian Blue.
    B- Shadows = black.
    C- Highlight =Base + more Cadmium yellow.
D- High highlights = Cadmium yellow.

    Cheers
    Roc. :)

Very nicely done Roc. I really like it so far. I also love the thing that you write down your mixes. That's very helpful.

    Hi John,
Thanks , you are too kind.

I did find a reference for the armor, Kato did wear gold laquuered armor.
I usually don't like to paint the parts before assembly, but in this case I didn't have much of choice.

    Cheers
    Roc. :)
