The piece is inspired by "Saving private Ryan".

    What I want is:

Paratrooper from 101 airborne with more or less complete gear
Wall should be typical stone wall from northern France - maybe with some rubble and partially demolished.
It should be a full figure and it should look dynamic (not a static bust :) )

So, nothing that I did before, i want to get out the comfort zone :)

    Here is the first sketch:

Rifle is here just for illustration, it should be replaced by Thompson.

That is an ambitious challenge. What scale are you working to?

Well, details should be enough for at least 1/16 scale...

Forgive my ignorance but are you sculpting the boots to add on at a later point? I haven't a clue about digital sculpting but it looks really interesting.

Yap, I'll put the boots on the paratrooper :)
  16. A question about the left foot, does the boot allow that twist?
    An interesting pose

My workflow with the gear is to model base mesh (which is exactly what above images show). Then i "pose" the boot, which will deform the boot and mess it up a bit, but I will fix it and add some "folds".
The biggest problem on the boot are shoelaces and holes for them. That's why they are totally separate, when I "pose" the boot, i will have to adjust them... but it is much less work than sculpt each boot separately.

Here how it works: some posing, few wrinkles and adjusting the shoelaces, about 45 minutes of work, it is essentially the same boot :)
