Here is my latest finished figure.

I tried to give him a ruddy outdoors complexion as I guess this guy would spend all his time riding out in the African sun.

Please feel free to comment etc.

You have done well with this one and having blown him up six times the size.

Many thanks for the kind feedback (sorry if the photos are appearing very big in your browser - it seems to be the only way to upload them from my phone!)

Some good work there Mat, if I could only have one little piece of constructive criticism it would be that for me the base doesn't need to be that size, just my observation. Other than that it's a good job, well done!

Thanks Chris. I appreciate most people will think the base looks big, and I can see your point. I've got into the habit of using slightly larger base areas - still not sure myself so may go smaller in the future.

Yeah Mat, it's your own personal preference obviously but to me a it in some way takes something away from the figure. I guess from my point of view you would want the base to compliment and work in with the figure but not detract anything away from your focal point. I'm somewhat going through a learning curb with doing bases and you can learn a lot from some of the masters on here.
    Cheers,
    Chris.

I looked at the real base again and I think the photo makes it look bigger because of the foreshortened view. But I know Bill Horan says make the base as small as possible and cram in as much action as possible - he would probably fit three/four figures on this one.

    Hey Mat.

The colour tones are great, I remember you showing me this one club night when he was underway.

Nailed this one in my view.
The South Afrivan Veld is very wide like the American plains.
So I think you are very clever and subtle suggesting that on your big base, clever that ! :)

Hi Paul - yes started this one a long while ago now! If you say I was trying to convey the wide veld, then that's exactly what I was trying to do!!
