This is a beautifully sculpted and well cast figure produced by Poste Militaire, one of the best figure companies in the world, unfortunately no longer in business.
I would really appreciate any reference material and suggestions.

The "Orleans Cavalry" originated from two foreign cavalry corps that were admitted to the French pay in 1635- Souvre-Piemontais and Tupalden Weymarien.
In 1647 it became "Duke d'Anjou" and was not given given the title of Orleans until 1660 where it became the property of the Duke of Orleans, Louis XIVth's brother. In 1665 it was brought up to strength with a company enrolled in 1648 under the name of"Sainte Cecile" which became famous for its action in Catalonia.
"Orleans Cavalerie" saw action and distinguished itself in every battle during the reign of Louis XIV: Flanders, The Palatinate, Holland, etc.
In 1719 it formed part of the army in Spain. It took part in the War of Succession in Poland, served with honour in Italy and returned to France in 1763.
In 1724 it became the property of the Regent's son, 3rd Duke of Orleans, where it remained with the family of Orleans until the revolution. In 1791 it vbecame ' 13c de Cavlerie" and in 1809 " 22c Regiment de Dragoons".

but I procrastinated and as result lost out on a good buy. :(

    Looking good, Roc.
I remember the last piece Joe Keenan finished was the trumpeter. He would have loved the work you've been doing.
