After a triple dip into the fantasy world something a little more traditional, this Franco Prussian War French Officer 1870 from Model Cellar. 3 pieces (the bill on the kepi is a separate piece). Sculpting is great, Casting is near flawless with only some extrmely minor webbing

The French may not have done so well in the war but one thing you have to give them....
...they had the best hats.

** For those of you who speak French, it's Creole French.
For those of you who speak Creole French, it's Northwestern Creole French.
As perhaps spoken in.. Utah.

Well, I am from Utah and my maternal grandmother spoke Northwestern Creole French (one of the altogether 27 southeastern dialects) with me whilst I grew up with her. I understand exactly what you mean.

For all those of you who didn't have that privilege, the translation is (roughly): "The oils on this model of a French officer from the war of 1870, painted by a very talented American modeller, haven't dried completely yet, which explains why the red of the cap is still a bit shiny." Creole is a very useful language to compress a lot of information into very few words.

Hi Rick

That's coming along really well now , like the very neat lacework around the kepi .....what's the top like ?

If I might share this from I think a US modeller ( unsure who ! )

Thanks, Kev. Lacework on the top is still a bit sloppy. Here is where it stands at the moment.

Hi Kev, thanks.

No, I'm not using oils. Not sure why I'm getting an oil-like shine. I used Vallejo acrylics: Dark Vermillion as a base and a little Scarlet for a subtle highlight.

As for the uniform blue I'm planning to use AK's Dark Sea Blue.
