Well finally finished this little gem today. A fun and simple conversion. Sorry for the crappy phone pics but cant figure out how to use my canon a220 yet! Comments welcomed. Still a few spots to tidy up that I missed but the photos picked up.

    Jason,
I absolutely love this piece... The face, reds and blues are fantastic... The detail work on the kit and medals is excellent... The standout for me is the worn effect on the black leather. Some tips on your technique for this effect would be great, as it looks very realistic.

    Great job on this overall

Thanks guys!! I wish I had better pics!
Colin, distressing the leather was pretty easy. I followed an SBS on painting black leather I found on this site. I'll find the link for you. I based with walnut brown and did a black ink wash into the recesses and then did several layers of thinned sepia ink washes to get a decent sheen then dry brushed Vallejo yellow rust along wear areas and edges and then follwed that by dry brushing Vallejo german camo beige along higer wear areas. Pretty simple really. I'll PM you the leather SBS link. Very helpful SBS

Thanks so much guys. ROger, I am not sure yet whats next. Deciding between a fantasy figure or a JMD historical piece. I still have a commission to finish but thats a quickie.

Roger, its the JMD Sous- Officier de Uhlan Prussien 1914 and of course all the instructions are in french. Google translate here I come! He is holding a guidon with a black eagle on it. Any help will be appreciated!
Colin, Gellso's "painting leather boots" sbs appears to be a broken link or missing. You may want to PM him about it. It's a great sbs and I use it all the time
