This is a figure from the "Beau Geste" period, I believe. I never read or saw the movie, but it is one of my friend's favorites, and he commissioned it. Also WIP, like the Chasseur.

    - Mle. 1872 double-breasted great coat in very dark blue, with rolled-back sleeves, open at the neck
    - Mle. 1890 pith helmet "les casques coloniax"
    - Mle. 1861 six button, "de Negrier" ammunition container (or cartouchiere)
    - Mle. 1879 haversack
    - Mle. 1879 white trousers (Le pantalon de Treillis Blanc) and shirt (Les bourgerons de la 'tenue en blanc'
    - 1874 Gras rifle and 1886 bayonet
    - black leather lace-up boots - not sure what year...

Lots of work left to do!

    Hope you like it!

    All the best,
    Dan

Matthew, Vergilius, Tony, Roger and Marc - Many thanks fellas! I may have seen one of the older versions, but, for whatever reason, it didn't make the same impression as with my friend and patron. Lots more to do to finish this one. You may notice the 12 "button-like" impressions on the great coat. I originally got the buttons much too big and removed them. Now I'll have to sand out some of the impressions a bit to make it look right.

    All the best,
    Dan
