Afternoon all! Thought I'd show where I have got to on my new project- the 75mm French crossbowman from FER. Mostly painted in Humbrol enamels as usual. Just finished his face and the lining of the aventail. The bascinet and mail aventail are base coated in black pending metallics being applied.
I thought I would go for a woodland setting this time. The ferns are paper ones (suitably painted) from Fredericus Rex. Still lots to do but tried out the effects on the front to see if I liked it. Cheated a bit on the pavise, using a combination of Miniart and Border Miniatures transfers as a base for the heraldry, which I will paint over. I imagined this chap as a member of a town militia and am going to use the heraldry of the City of Lyon- yellow fleur de lys on blue and a white lion on red for the remainder of the pavise. All comments welcome. Regards Pete.

Hi Pete

Great to see you posting and that's a nice looking figure as well

Nice to see painting in enamels as well

Good call on using the transfers on the pavise ..going to look good

Basework looks good as does that Nameit plate

Why not enter something into FOTM as well as voting in previous month ( we are also running a Vignette & Diorama comp , the current one runs till 1/3/ 21

Thanks for sharing

Look forward to more from you

Happy benchtime

Thanks for the great feedback Nap!

Hi guys. Thought I would show where I have got to now. Still loads to do, but the crossbow is now on, although unfinished. Glad to get it on because it is a focal point on the figure...and luckily it fitted perfectly. I tend to paint all the hard to reach areas first before putting parts on, which is probably why everything takes so long! Still, I hate not giving all areas the same level of attention so it works for me. I'm very pleased with how the bascinet has turned out as well as the RAF blue I am using on the gambeson. Mostly Humbrol enamels as usual.
Thanks for looking and I hope your own projects are progressing well.
Regards Pete

Morning chaps. Hope all your projects are going well. A quick update on this cracker from FER. Still lots to do but starting to come together now. The white cross was a field recognition sign for French troops in the Hundred Years War. Happy painting! Regards Pete

Looking really good so far. This is a figure that I've not paid much attention to before, but you're showing just how nice it can look.

Evening everyone! Hope your projects are progressing well. Just a quick update on progress so far with this Fer medieval figure. The gambeson has been a right pain to do but I think I've broken the back of it now. The figure seems to have started to come together at last. Amy comments most welcome. Regards Pete
