Very nice job on this excellent figure. The color of the 1937 Battle Dress is always a bit tricky due to the blend of different color wool fibers that make up the material. You've done a fine job capturing that elusive khaki green/brown shade.

For those who are interested this figure was done in Vallejo with the exception of the face which is done using the Lifecolour flesh set, with some Vallejo Burnt Umber. All of the lining, and some of the darkest shading was done with Rowneys Sepia Artists Ink.

For the uniform I used mixes of English Uniform, Green-brown and US Field Drab. The trousers were painted more Field Drab, the battledress more English Uniform.

For the webbing I used Khaki Grey and Green-Brown lightened with Buff. My main shading was done with Burnt Umber, Chocolate Brown and SS Cam Black.

The helmet is SS Cam Black with Beige Brown hessian and the net picked out in the webbing colour.

I made the groundwork from Apoxie Sculp, textured with sand ( that my son brought back from Omaha beach a few years ago!) and some dirt I swept up from my patio. i sprayed it with Chocolate Brown then did a littwle dry brushing to add a few highlights. Once the figure was on the base I sprayed it with Vallejo Matt varnish then I added Heki grass, which was coloured with various Valejo greens.

The rifle stock was satin varnished then added along with a lead foil sling before finally finishing off with pastels and pigments in various dusty shades, fixed to the base with Tamiya acrylic thinners, and then worked into the figures lower legs, knees and elbows dry.

This is the second figure I've completed in acrylics, the other was a Royal Marine Commando which you can see here.

Seems just like yesterday that I sculpted that Marine! Excellent work with the painting, esp the DPM !

Thanks Peter, it was a fantastic figure to paint - my only regret is I gave it away as a retirement gift to an ex Bootneck! Lovely figure. By the way did you sculpt the Foxwood British corporal in the leather vest with the sten gun?
